NOtaBLE and more recently The Nash have been YYC institutions from the moment they opened their doors. The care with which they choose fresh, local ingredients and creatively reinvent classic comfort food are just a few reasons that make these restaurants a must visit. Local Calgarians have been dining in for years…but did you know that you also have the opportunity to enjoy their famous “happy chickens” at home?

Let’s Go Home Loyalty Program
As a working mom, I often find myself in a constant internal battle between healthy home-cooked meals and the convenience of on-the-go take out. More times than I’d like to admit, I find myself in a pickle where I’m running from work, to daycare, to the next destination and it dawns on me that I should have planned ahead. My knee jerk reaction is often to grab fast food, which then kickstarts the guilty mom dialogue within myself.
Recently, I heard that The Nash and NOtaBLE have started a Let’s Go Home Loyalty Program where patrons are able to pre-order a “happy chicken” either on its own or as a full meal deal for a quick and easy solution to strike the delicate balance between fast and nutritious. The even better news is that after five happy chicken purchases, the next one is free! Their new Loyalty Program is certainly to have some loyal followers in its near future.
My husband and I recently celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. Though we had been to NOtaBLE a few times, for some reason we had never made it to The Nash since it’s opening. It has been on our “must try” dining list since its inception so we decided that our anniversary would be the perfect occasion to give it a try.
The staff at The Nash kindly greeted us with two glasses of champagne upon our arrival to ring in another year of marriage. Of course we also had our hearts set on their unique cocktails as well. My husband opted for the VICEROYALTY, a mix of quality tequila, lime, and grapefruit & hops bitters. I, on the other hand, opted for the HOTEL NACIONAL, a girly concoction made with white rum, apricot du roussillon, and pineapple & lime flora kola syrup. I can’t describe it any other way other than it tastes like Christmas. Give it a good waft and you’ll know exactly what I mean.
To start we ordered the BEETROOT SALAD, “FARMHOUSE” LADY JANE CHEESE. In full disclosure I typically am not a huge fan of beets, but this refreshing salad was certainly an exception to the rule. The freshness of the beets combined with the crunchiness of the hazelnuts and cold beet sorbet topped with whipped crème fraiche and farmhouse cheese was out of this world. Truly unforgettable.
Next up was the CRISPY POTATO ROLLS, SPICY RANCH & SALSA VERDE. The contrast of the fresh farmhouse salad to the exotic spice from the potato rolls was quite the unexpected flavour journey, but it worked beautifully. The rich pork shoulder in the potato rolls paired well with the avocado and feta on top. This dish is addicting. You’ve been warned.
For our main course we shared two very different dishes: First, the JOSPER ROASTED FOGO ISLAND COD surrounded by Panang Curry (my personal favourite) and topped with a papaya salad. This cod has to be specially flown in and is only available to order for a particular list of restaurants. The Nash happens to be one of them.
And of course, our meal wouldn’t be complete without trying the famous NASH ROTISSERIE CHICKEN. Made with The Nash’s special spice rub on a bed of buttermilk mash. Words will not do justice the decadence of this dish. Typically “a rotisserie chicken is a rotisseries chicken” in my mind. Not this one. This chicken is the stuff dreams are made of. I promise you that this will be the single greatest rotisserie chicken you’ve had in your life. I would order this dish again and again and again and never grow weary of it.
Is your mouth watering yet? If you haven’t been to NOtaBLE or The Nash it’s certainly worth stopping in for dine in or take out. You won’t be disappointed.
