You would be hard-pressed to find a couple who doesn’t love to spend a date night watching Netflix. The problem is that it’s hard to find a series that piques both of your interests! I know – I’ve been there…#thestruggleisreal. In our marriage, I love a good sappy romance or knee-slapping comedy, whereas my husband would rather watch an in-depth documentary or action series. Finding something that suits us both is a tall order.
I’ve compiled a list of shows that we’ve both really enjoyed watching as a couple. I guarantee there will be at least one on this list that will become your new favorite series!
Netflix Shows to Watch with Your Spouse
From the very first episode, this one will have you hooked. The good news is, the series just gets better from there. A bipolar CIA agent fights the war on terror and you’re taken along on an emotional roller coaster as the plot thickens with each episode. It is a thrilling mix of non-stop action, drama, with a dash of romance thrown in for good measure. It’s truly a show for every audience.
Mad Men was a show I never would have thought I would’ve liked. My husband got into it right away, and when I was on bedrest with C I decided to give it a shot myself. Within a few episodes I was also hooked! Set in 1960s New York, this show showcases the men and women of Madison Avenue working at a high-pressure advertising firm. The character development is unparalleled. Make sure it has your full attention as you’re watching. This series is chock-full of subtle tip-offs about future plotlines.
This is certainly my husband’s favourite show he’s seen on Netflix. It’s smart, witty, an edge-of-your-seat drama, with a dash of romance for the ladies. The story follows a law firm with one employee who is only impersonating a lawyer. He has never been to law school. The storyline is so much more though, and you’ll love the back and forth power plays as the the plot thickens.
House of Cards
This political drama is both gripping and humorous. Kevin Spacey is the star of the show. His devilish dark character will have you cringing while laughing at the same time. The first two seasons were most definitely the very best. Season three was a bit of a sleeper, but by season four it picked up again. If you’ve found the last election campaign entertaining…this one will be right up your alley!
Admittedly this one is the only one on the list I haven’t yet watched in full, however since it’s arrival on the scene, it has received rave reviews from audiences across the globe. Touted as an “addictive homage to Steven Spielburg films and 1980s television,” this sci-fi drama is sure to hit all the right notes with couples of all ages.
