The Buddha Board: Unleash Your Childhood Artist

in review on 24/08/15

Parents yearn for 15-20 minutes of independent playtime for their children. When mommy can sit down and enjoy an entire cup of hot (!) coffee in uninterrupted bliss, it really is a small miracle. I’m always on the hunt for unique toys that actually capture my little guy’s attention for longer than 5 minutes before he’s moved onto the next thing.
Disclosure: This post is sponsored by a vendor I have chosen to work with. I have received either paid compensation and/or free product in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own based only on my own experience.
Recently, I was visiting my friend K on the west coast. It was a rainy day and the kids were a bit wild. She brought out the Buddha Board and it immediately captured C’s attention. He sat quickly and “painted” the board over and over again – smiling to himself, proud of his new creations.
The best thing about this board is that it’s relatively mess-free. It’s like the Etch-A-Sketch of the painting world. As any parent knows, painting with children is not for the faint of heart. In a typical painting session, we often have to change clothes, find the painting shirt, cover the chairs and table with plastic, put the paint down and hope nothing gets damaged too irreplaceably.
With the Buddha board, all you have to do is add about an inch of water to the tray, prop up the board and whistle smugly to yourself as you walk away to actually get something done for yourself. As they paint with water the board turns dark and as the water evaporates it creates a clean canvas to start again. Literally ten of minutes of entertainment to be had!

This board even comes in a cute mini-version for more than half the price, perfect for travel or a trip to grandma’s house.

Where to Buy: http://buddhaboard.com/products/

Price:  Original Buddha Board $34.95            Mini Buddha Board $13.95

Final Verdict: Highly Recommend  – but be careful where you purchase it. I have seen the Original Buddha Board for as much as $50 in some boutique stores. Source it out before you buy!

Love this product! Big thanks to K for introducing it to our family.

We’ve all read the multitude of articles about the many cancer causing ingredients in everything from our makeup to our body lotion. Just when you’ve gotten rid of phthalates and BPA, now you have to worry about sulfates. In fact, the list of harmful ingredients has gotten so long that’s it’s hard to know just what is safe out there – especially for our most vulnerable, our kids…

The Gro Clock: One Mom’s Solution to Early Morning Wake Ups

WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! startles me from my peaceful slumber and awakens me to the day. Except for the fact that it’s not really morning according to my own personal definition, as it is only 5:30am or 5am or if I’m really (un)lucky 4:30am. UGH!
